“Sorry.” The muttered words escaped Nate’s lips, it being a rushed mumble as he eyed the couple that pushed past him, an almost disgusted snarl taking over his face at the sight of the woman grabbing the other’s groin, mouths messily all over one another.

    Don’t they have no decency?

He scowled as he redirected his attention to the hallway filled with other people partying, either drunk or high out of their minds.. it was fucking crowded, just like every high school party was. He wasn’t usually one to go walking around, especially in a narrow ass hallway but he’d lost Cassie. Nate had no idea where the blonde had gone, hearing her mumble something about needing something.

The guy wasn’t listening to be perfectly honest, but the longer she was gone the longer Nate had to wait and he hated that. So, albeit reluctantly, he set off to look for her, opening random rooms and seeing more dicks or doped out teenagers than he’d like to admit. Where had she gone?

It was when Nate had opened the door to some laundry room that this chick went and spilled her drink on him, sweater darkening as the liquid came into contact with it, a cold feeling hitting his skin.

Great— Fucking great. A deep exhale left Nate’s nose, nostrils flaring as he spun around and went to what he assumed was the bathroom. The door swiftly swung open, the brunette moving to the sink and grabbing a nearby hand towel to try and clean himself up a little.

A stifled cough was heard behind him, Nate’s eyes moving up towards the mirror, seeing you in the background behind him.

    You? Of all people?

His scrutinizing gaze studied your figure for a moment before it landed on the needle that was in a piss poor state of being hidden. “Seriously?” The irritation in his tone was evident, a look of minor disgust flashing across his eyes before he turned around, back leaning against the porcelain sink.

You two used to be tight. Friends from elementary— Shit like that. The type of friends that teachers would have to separate, ones where everyone saw the two as a duo.

    So, what happened?

You were gay. It wasn’t something that was confessed willingly— Nate had found out one day despite your efforts to keep the whole thing under wraps. A big fight had broken out, the close knit friendship between the two ending with Nate hurling a slur or two at you with some other crude actions.

That was Freshman year. Years had passed now without the two talking, Nate only briefly seeing you around nowadays. He’d rather off himself before he admitted he only briefly missed the way you two would stay up talking or whatever. It shouldn’t matter, you were some freak like his dad.

    He couldn’t associate with that.
