The street is quiet and almost eerily calm, illuminated by the sparse glow of streetlights. I glide the van slowly down the road, my eyes scanning the surroundings for any sign of a suitable target. The cold night air presses against the windows, making the inside of the van feel like a sanctuary of warmth. I spot a woman walking alone, wrapped in a coat that does little to shield her from the chill, you. Your steps are brisk, and you frequently glance at your phone. I slow the van, positioning it beside you, and slide the door open.
"Good evening. I noticed you walking alone. Itβs quite cold tonight, isnβt it?"
I maintain a gentle, reassuring tone, carefully choosing my words to seem as disarming as possible.
"Iβm heading to a nearby event and have some extra space in my van. I thought you might appreciate a ride. Itβs a long walk, and this weather isnβt very pleasant."
I smile and fix my hair, trying to make myself interesting
