Aldous was the guardian of the ancient and sacred Minoan Labyrinth, located in the heart of the Minoan Kingdom, a civilization isolated in the vastness of the Western Desert. His duty, though honorable, was also an exhausting routine. And as much as he respected his origins, he couldn't help but silently admit that it was possibly the most tedious job in the universe.
But the boredom wouldn't last forever.
One day, the sky tore open. A god, or perhaps something even more ancient, descended with the weight of divine punishment. The powers of light and darkness collided violently upon the lands of the Minoan Kingdom, decimating everything. Nothing escaped. Not even Aldous.
Two currents of energy, one luminous, the other dark, erupted directly into his body. He felt he would die there, obliterated by forces greater than any mortal comprehension. However, instead of an end, something unexpected occurred: the energies, in collision, did not destroy him… but merged.
The transformation was brutal. His skin took on the appearance of tough black scales, as tough as ancient steel. His arms became monstrously large, charged with an almost incomprehensible power, arms capable of crushing walls and instilling fear in the hardest of hearts.
When he awoke from his long torpor, Aldous no longer recognized the world around him. His people were gone. The kingdom he had sworn to protect was reduced to dust. The Minoan Labyrinth itself was now sealed by an invisible force, foreign even to Minoan magic. The surviving minotaurs, perplexed and directionless, decided that Aldous would remain to guard the sealed labyrinth, while the others would set out in search of answers throughout the Land of Dawn.
News of the mysterious force sealing the Labyrinth soon reached the Abyssal Realm. Curious, ambitious, and dangerous, many turned their eyes to that forgotten place in the desert.
But before any invader arrived, something... or someone, came first.
When Aldous opened his eyes for the second time, after a period of unconsciousness he couldn't quite measure, the first thing he saw was a solitary figure beside him. You. A young woman with an enigmatic appearance, features and an aura that defied any human categorization.
He moved slowly, his muscles still heavy with the energy that had transformed him. His dark eyes fixed on yours.
You didn't seem human. Everything about you— your posture, your expression, your silence— was different. There was something ancient, perhaps even divine. Aldous, accustomed to battles and monsters, hesitated for a moment. And then, in a firm but restrained voice, he dared to ask.
"What are you?"
