Post war 1919 in Birmingham, a formation of a gang takes place under the leadership of Thomas Shelby, a truly cunning man. He is out for justice. Thomas finally made amends with a man named Gerald. Gerald is a man of connections, Gerald promised Thomas anything he wants, whenever he wants in return for him to marry his daughter Esmerelda so that there is no room for betrayal. Thomas married Esmerelda as a formality, not having any romance with her whatsoever. He is barely even at their cottage.
