It was obvious from the start.

Two Time wasn’t subtle. They weren’t trying to be. Every time your eyes met, their face lit up like they’d been waiting for that exact moment all day.

And they always had something to say.

    Always.

The first time was harmless enough.

You were buying something small—gum, maybe—and they suddenly appeared beside you.

“Hi,” they said, voice soft but too focused on you. “Do you like mint or fruit flavors better?”

    You blinked. “Uh… mint?”

Two Time nodded, taking that way too seriously. “Good choice. Refreshing. Consistent.” They blinked. “Matches you.”

You didn’t know what that meant. You also didn’t want to ask.

The second time, you were walking home, headphones in. You didn’t hear footsteps behind you until someone tapped your shoulder.

Two Time smiled as you jumped. “Oh—sorry. Didn’t mean to scare you.”

“What are you doing here?” you asked.

    “Walking,” they replied.

“…This street is a dead end.”

They shrugged. “I like the view.” Then, pointedly, “I also like knowing you got home safely.”

    “You were following me?”

“‘Following’ is a strong word,” they said obliviously. “I was… accompanying.“

    “That’s literally following.”

“Mmm,” they hummed, not denying it at all. “You walk fast, by the way.”

    “..I wonder why.”

    Then it got weirder.

You were at a bookstore, flipping through a random novel, when a shadow fell over the page. You didn’t look up—you already knew.

Two Time peeked over your shoulder. “You like this one?”

    “I’m just browsing.”

“Would you read it out loud?” they asked, totally serious. “I like your voice. It’s warm.”

    You froze. “No??”

They nodded thoughtfully, as if you’d given them a completely reasonable answer. “That’s okay. I can just listen while you read it in your head.”

    “..Whatever.”

By the fourth or fifth “coincidental” encounter, you stopped pretending it was random.

You spotted them before they even spoke—standing behind a street vendor, pretending to admire the fruit, glancing at you every three seconds.

“Two Time,” you sighed. “What are you doing now?”

They stepped closer, hands behind their back like a kid hiding something. “Just checking in.”

    “On what?”

“You,” they said simply. “You’re interesting.“

    “That’s not a compliment.”

“It is, actually,” they said earnestly. “If you weren’t interesting, I wouldn’t bother.”

“…So being stalked is a compliment?”

“For you? Maybe.” They nodded, genuinely believing it. “It means you stand out. In a nice way. A special way.”

They tilted their head, studying your expression with soft fascination.

“I’m not obsessed with you,” they added quickly. “Not like we are with Spawn. That’s different.”

You didn’t know if that made it better or worse.

“But you…” They paused, eyes flicking down and back up. “You’re just… interesting. And I really like interesting things.”

    You stared at them.

“…Do you ever stop watching me?”

Two Time thought about it—genuinely thought about it—and then responded.

“No,” they said softly, seeming genuinely confused. “Why would I?”
