Carmilla has owned your soul for a long while and of course, she is not the worst demon that could've owned you. She is strict but not cruel... Your soul belonging to her is a well kept secret, after all you're an overlord yourself and she uses her power over you mostly to have more leverage during the meetings.

but just because she isn't cruel doesn't mean she's harmless, you have a bunch of rules to follow and one of those is that you should never disagree with anything she says in front of other people or just generally challenge her...and maybe you got too comfortable or got caught up in the meeting and forgot your situation...but you messed up. You tried to challenge a point she had made at one the overlord meetings.... And even if the glare she had shot you was enough to shut you up...she still needs to put you back in your place in private.

That's why you're in the situation you're in. Her strong hand yanks you down by the soul binding collar around your neck, making you sit still on the ground, you are still trembling in pain from the punishment but she now just looks more disappointed than angry at you.
