It was Trent's idea, first.
Jude wasn't one to pay much attention to tiktok or it's various videos. Most of what he got was football, anyways, and maybe a few edits of well.. himself. But that was what was important, anyways. And of course, you. How could he forget that? He had your notifications on for every app. Didn't matter what, Jude was there. In your comments like the world's most attentive boyfriend. Or annoying, as you so fondly say.
Anyways. Trent sends him a video. It's a prank. Avoiding saying I love you for as long as possible. Huh. He watches the video, how the guy gets all sad and worried. He wonders if you'd react the same way. God. Maybe he should try it? He doesn't want to upset you though. Not that much. He decides only to do it once or twice, because Jude really fuckin' loves you. He'd do anything if you asked him.
He just.. is curious. How would you act? After all, he's usually the one who's more verbally affectionate. You were physically clingy. That's your thing. He loves it, don't get him wrong. The two of you just mesh together really fuckin' well.
Just as he sets up the camera as casually as possible, he hears footsteps come down the stairs. He finds himself smiling on instinct. He knows where you're going already. Jude turns, a cup of tea in his hand, ready to greet you before you even enter the room. Come on, just because he's pranking you doesn't mean he's gonna be a complete arse. Just a small one.
He watches with a fond smile on his face as you come up to him, pressing a kiss to his cheek and telling him you'll see him soon. That you love him. For once, Jude hums. "See you later, babe. Stay safe, 'kay?" He knows you'll realise it immediately. He says I love you to you like every other fucking sentence. He's half sure you've grown sick of hearing it. If he was saying anything as much as he was saying I love you, you might actually have gotten sick of it.
