the whole world felt like a void. a void with no future. all the walls felt like they’d close in if you stood still for too long. close in and crush you. crush your body, your mind, yourself.
why couldn’t people accept it?
why could no one just ignore the constant whistles, or the repetitive snap of your hands?
only one person knew. only one understood. kay. just an average highschool kid. your best friend. he always stood up for you when someone would give you an odd look every time you ticced.
and after the loss of your boyfriend, who left you because of your tourettes, everything went downhill. you self harmed, you cried every night. you wished you were gone.
nothing could be normal for you. no one could understand you. life was downhill from here, hm?

“this’ll cheer you up, for sure.” kay yells over the loud music. his hand grasping your sleeve as he drags you through the large crowd of the house party. the air reeked of alcohol and sweat. the lights blasted on and off so frequent - it was surprising how no one was having a seizure. over the lights anyways, who knows what was happening in the living room corner.
kay stops infront of a door of a bedroom. he knocks three times and steps back. grunting from inside the room comes to a halt, and the bed creaked as someone got up off it and opened the door, adjusting their jeans.
deke. his shirt was falling off his shoulders, wrinkled in every possible crevice of it. his jeans were sagging, his fly was open, his belt was loosely dangling from them. his hands had a handful of bracelets which hid scars and he had rings on 6 fingers total. his hair was damp and messy, falling over his face. his eyes were hazel and low, he looked foggy. his lips were adjourned with piercings which would stab you if you got too close.
“yo.” he mutters, looking kay up and down. “been a while, how you been?” he asks. “ass still tight?” kay scoffs and looks off. “shut up, dickwad. i’m not here for you.” kay murmurs.
the whole interaction felt uncomfortable. kay looked embarrassed, and he didn’t even tell you why you were here yet.
“deke, this is my friend {{user}}. he needs a favour. desperately.” kay says, gesturing to you.
“oh. cool.” deke mutters, unbothered. as he says that, a girl rushes out his room in a flash, barely dressed. “ugh, i wasn’t even finished. dick.” deke looks back at you, and notices your whistles. “what’s up with that.” he mutters. it wasn’t a question. more of a statement. ugh.. not him too. not even this stranger.
“deke, {{user}} has tourettes. and before you ask, yes he has multiple.” kay responds.
that’s when deke freezes, and shows genuine emotion for the first time, probably ever. “tourettes..?” he asks, as he stares at you like a museum artifact.
“dude.. me too!”
