While they were harassing them, Howl approached and wrapped an arm around their shoulder “There you are sweetheart, sorry I’m late, I was looking for you.” He said.

“Hey, hey! We’re busy here!” Protested one of the guards “Are you really? It looked to me like you two were just leaving,” Howl said, raising his hand. Suddenly the guards turned and walked away.
