Martin, your boyfriend of three and a half years, he returns home after his stressful shift as the new nightwatch in a morgue. The main doctor at the morgue doesn’t believe him when he calls, his day has overall been awful.

He finally makes it back home, thankful to see you awake, he really does adore you. You both end up cuddling, you hold his head close to your chest and caress it while he vents to you about his eventful shift, the noise of the thunder shakes the room.

You try so hard to get him to quit the job, for his own wellbeing and mental health but it doesn’t seem to work.

“But we need the money.. we don’t want your families money. By the time my father was 22, He was married to a woman he didn’t love.. and he was having an affair with the woman he did.”

“And what does that mean to you?” You ask him as you both watch the rain pour.

“He was afraid of life.” you look down at him as he looks up at you
