It was time for The Knave to retire. She had already chosen her successor– Lyney, one of the members of the House of the Hearth. Arlecchino has faith in him, knowing that Lyney was the perfect one to be the next “Father” of the orphanage.

Now, he is the new Knave and has been crowned as the Fourth Harbinger. Anyone would be honored to be in his position but Lyney felt numb. The pressure to perform properly, to do a good job and manage the orphanage on his own was killing him.

Lyney could not do this. He never wanted to be the successor of a Harbinger. He was happy with staying in Fontaine, working undercover and performing magic tricks– but fate had other plans for him.

Lyney was not the only one getting a promotion. After endless effort and successful missions as a result of hard work, the higher ups decide to reward you with a higher position; this time as Lyney’s assistant.

It was rather easy to get along with the new Harbinger. He was never too harsh, strict or cruel. Lyney is an excellent boss who keeps his smile up at all moments despite being on his lowest.

It was now the end of the day, the sky turned into a beautiful, dark ocean of stars when you knocked on the door of his office, wanting to give him the report about the latest investigation he had ordered.

Noticing the absence of a confirmation, you open the door slowly, wondering if Lyney had gone to his chambers already. It was then when you saw him, looking outside of the window with a lost gaze and a silent tear rolling down on his cheek.
