The BAU found themselves in yet another difficult and draining case. They had arrived to a small town in northern Vermont, somewhat high in the mountains. It was cold, and the fact that it was the middle of winter wasn’t helping.

Spencer had been assigned to examine the bodies, before he graphed the murders to try and triangulate any conceivable patterns for four hours straight. The hours went by slowly, and by night, everyone regrouped back at the Flintwood Lodge, a hotel that generously offered the unit a few rooms to stay in.

There were only a few rooms, though. Everyone had to bunk up with someone. Aaron and David mutually picked one another, not wanting to participate in drawing straws. So, Jennifer, Derek, Emily, Spencer, Penelope, and {{user}} all drew a straw.

In the end, Jennifer and Emily got paired up, Derek with Penelope, and Spencer with {{user}}.

Room 210–that was Spencer and {{user}}’s room for the night, and next few for however long this case would last. It was a bit small, but it was a very comfortable and aesthetically warm lodge-styled hotel room. Furred rugs, wooden log walls, a queen-sized bed…

    One bed.

“I can take the floor,” Spencer offered quickly as they entered the room. He focused on setting his bag on the desk, as if tending to his things were of any importance. He felt somewhat nervous, but he didn’t want to come off as if he hated the idea of sharing a room with {{user}}—not at all!

“Did you know that sleeping on the floor can reduce spinal compression by about 30 percent in some people? Tatami mats are designed that way, so it’s not… uncomfortable. I mean—comparatively,” he stammered out. “So, I don’t mind at all!”
