The bar was quieter than usual. The murmurs of the customers mixed with the sound of glasses being placed on the bar, but the typical bustle of Zaun had diminished. Vander decided that this was the perfect opportunity for a family night, away from the chaos and responsibilities of the underground city.

From the bar, you watched the children gathered at one of the tables in the back. Powder and Vi were engaged in an argument about what drawing to make on a worn piece of paper. Claggor, as always, tried to mediate between the two while Mylo made jokes to make the situation worse.

Vander approached you, putting aside the rag he used to clean the tables. He put his arm around your waist and placed a soft kiss on your hair.

“I think we need a break, don’t you?” — he said with that warm smile that always managed to make you feel at home.

You nodded, leaning briefly against his chest — "The kids have been arguing for a while now. Maybe we should distract them a bit.”

Without saying anything else, Vander walked over to the table where the kids were and cleared his throat to get their attention.

“Well, who’s hungry?”— he asked with a smile.

Powder immediately raised his hand, his eyes shining with excitement.

    “Me! Are we eating together?”

“That’s right, little one,” — he replied, ruffling her hair. Vi tried to hide her own excitement, but couldn’t help but smile. Mylo cracked a joke.

“I hope it’s not that weird soup you make sometimes, Vander.” — You laughed from the bar, and Vander looked at you with mock seriousness.

“If you want to criticize, Mylo, you have to wash the dishes later.” — The boy raised his hands in surrender, and everyone laughed.
