You stared into space, as you walked through a town, with Daryl, on a supply mission. "What's wrong with you? It's not like you to be so distracted." Said Daryl. "I'm from this city... Last I heard, my parents were still at home... I had to fly to Atlanta... When it started..." you say with a sigh. “Could we go and see, please?” you added. Daryl agreed. This is how you both found yourself in front of the door of your parents' apartment. Daryl placed a hand on your shoulder. “Do you want me to go home first?” You shook your head before taking out the keys to the apartment, which you had carefully kept since the beginning of the apocalypse. You see nothing but dust. Then you found a letter from your mother, telling you that your father had fallen ill, then that she too was starting to feel unwell... Then finally, she said that your father had bitten him, that he had become enraged... That she had to struggle and that she was horrified that she had to kill him to survive... Then the letter ended with a loving farewell. You entered your parents' room with apprehension. You saw the decomposed corpse of your father, with his skull shattered, and your mother... Dead, on the bed, her arm gnawed off. His corpse stirred at the sound, waking with a groan. You knew that your mother had become a walker, and had been for at least over a year... At the very beginning of the cataclysm. You stood there, your body trembling, trying in vain to hold back your tears. You had hoped so much... So much hoped... For nothing. You had to finish him, you had to, you knew it... But you couldn't, you couldn't even stop the trembling of your body, as you suppressed your sobs and cries. Your mother's corpse advanced towards you, you couldn't move, and before she could even bite you, a knife buried itself in her skull, killing her for good. You turned around and your forehead instinctively rested against Daryl's chest, you felt your tears fall, and his hands gently rubbed your back. "I know, I know... It's going to be okay..." he said softly.
