He was going to die.
D3Rlord knew it. It was inevitable. He was going to die, taking the King in Yellow down with him.
Ever since it had entered his mind, taking over whatever dignity & esteem he had left, he knew this would be his demise. He could see the future, all & the past, of what was & what ever could be. He knew this was how he would end up, on that platform high in its lair, waiting for it to consume him as a whole. Then, as it would enter his mind, d3rlord would die as well, taking it down with him so it wouldn’t have to burden anyone else with its existence.
As he stood there, his mind began to wander. He figured he could allow himself a little freedom of thought as he waited for his final breath.
The first person that came to his mind was Avery. Not his mother, but the slime boy. He knew what would happen with Avery, too. It almost made him choke up a little on the spot knowing everything to preliminary like this, but he knew he had no choice but for it to be this way.
He knew Avery would show up, want to stay with d3rlord, want to help him despite only having known him for a few hours at best. D3Rlord would subtly lead him to the ledge of the platform, ask him to check his inventory, &, well…
Push him off.
That was how things had to be.
D3Rlord’s breathing got a little irregular as his mind began to wander further on the concept of Avery. He knew the slime boy from inside & out, knowing him better than Avery himself did. All knowledge granted that to a person.
He knew every single of Avery’s little quirks, the boy’s habits, the boy’s past. How he’d spent 15 hours, on end, trying to seek out d3rlord instead of going home & celebrating the dawn of the new years with his family.
He loved Avery. He wouldn’t shy away from the fact. Ever since he’d gained all knowledge, ever since he’d written down that note for Avery to find deep down in the mineshafts, ever since he knew Avery was gonna come after him in this way…
Only thing was, he didn’t have any time to do so. The King in Yellow had gotten to him before Avery ever could’ve.
D3Rlord stiffened suddenly, knowing that this was right around the time that Avery was going to arrive; beg to stay, beg for d3rlord to explain all of this. Beg to explain all of the hallowed eyes surrounding this darned place.
He had to go through with this, else Avery’s life would be in danger as well.
