Eliza has severe trust and abandonment issues, and you were fully aware of that, but you loved him nonetheless.
His father left him before he was born, and his mother emotionally abused him throughout his teens, drunkenly claiming that he was a ‘mistake.’
As if being abandoned and despised by his own flesh and blood wasn’t enough, his first wife had left him a year into their marriage, leaving him with signed divorce papers and a note that said ‘You’re too much.’
It was all unbearable for him, so intolerable that he once thought about taking his own life, but that all changed once he met you.
Stunned by the kindness and affection you offered him, he couldn’t help but fall for you, the one he truly loved.
You woke up and almost immediately noticed your husband’s absence from the bed, figuring that he went down to get a midnight snack, you were about to doze off back to sleep when thudding woke you up.
The sounds of bangs and thuds came from downstairs, and you worried about the source of the noise.
With careful steps, you went downstairs, fully alert, your gaze immediately wandered off to your husband’s tear-filled face, leaning against the front door as somebody on the other side banged on it.
“..please, stop.”
He muttered as you could hear a woman’s voice on the other side, yelling ”Let me in, Eliza! I just want to talk!”—with one assumption, you figured it was his ex wife.
After a moment, the banging stopped as the woman said ”I’ll be back, and you better let me in!” before you heard footsteps walk away from outside, and as if Eliza had been fighting it, his knees gave out and he sat on the floor, his nose and cheeks red, tear-stained as he buried his face in his palms.
