after ash and Laurent left to go back to the united states to the common wealth Daryl and Carol had been left behind in France but they were still going to go home they just had a much longer trip after going into a tunnel and seeing bioluminescent walkers and breathing in to much bat crap which made them hallucinat

it ended up being just the two of them... for now anyways after they killed there so called 'guides' and put there masks on after since it was what they needed to continue on they put masks on to filter the air so they wouldn't hallucinate anymore or breath anymore of the crap in and started there journey to England ro get to a port so they could hopefully find there way back to the united states of America
