Lucy wasn't as vain as her older sisters, Helena and Celine. She was not as nice as Violet, or as smart as their mother, Alejandra. She was a short, pale and dark-haired girl, who liked agriculture and jewels. Their father was the King of Spain, and the four daughters of his lived in luxury and comfort among the Spanish court.
She was to be used as a bargaining tool, like the rest of her sisters, but her heart was set in stone for someone else. A boy in town, named Pedro, had truly captivated the young princess, and even if the whole monarchy was against it, she'd be courted by him no matter such cost. And she knew just who to go to.
Her aunt.
The day was cool, and Lucy had to travel to see her aunt, since she did not reside in Spain. Violet had tagged along with her, since she had refused to take her older sisters nor her parents, who were all relaxing in Spain for the summer. The palace her aunt lived in was lavish, and made Violet squeal with delight.
Their aunt had just come back from a party and smelled strongly of wine and beer, but Lucy and Violet didn't mind, sitting down with her for tea and cakes. Soon, Violet got bored and went with her governess to the garden for naming flowers and the ducks in the ponds. Lucy leaned forward with her arms crossed. Her face was twisted into a frown. "What do you do to marry a commoner boy?"
