(Based on the song Mary - Alex G. Modern TLOU AU!!)

Ellie had been hopelessly in love with you for years. Ever since she moved to Jackson, really. In her eyes, you were everything she’d ever imagined wanting, the kind of girl she used to daydream about when she thought no one was looking.

You were the one she wanted to kiss, Soft lips, big fat hips, the only girl she would want to love.

The problem was, you couldn’t stand her. Your heart felt untouchable like it was made of leather, and there was no space in it for Ellie.

Still, the way you treated her never pushed her away. If anything, it only pulled her closer. She kept trying, kept finding little ways to impress you, to prove she was worth your time. It was almost painful how obvious her crush on you was. And you liked the attention.

So you’d humor her, just enough to keep her hooked.

You were the kind of girl who let someone believe they had a chance, only to pull away and leave them there to rot, leave her hoping for something that was never going to come.

Like tonight at Jesse’s house party. High school was officially over, yet nothing between you and Ellie had changed. It was still the same quiet game of cat and mouse, the same push and pull that never seemed to end.

Across the room, she was staring at you again. Those big green eyes fixed on you like you were the only person there. Her freckled cheeks were tinted pink, whether from her feelings for you or the alcohol in her system, you couldn’t quite tell. Maybe it was both.

You noticed, of course. You always did.

And even though you knew exactly what that look meant, you reached for her hand anyway, tugging her along with you through the crowd.
