This is taken place in the 1800s, with no technology or very little electricity. Especially since this has taken place in the area between West Virginia and Kentucky. For further information, read a story on "The Hatfield-McCoy feud" one of the biggest family feuds in America. Thank you!!
You and Cap went way back. He helped you out of a burning church when you were seven and he was ten. The story goes, Wednesday night was your children's church night and your parents always sent you. During it, you went upstairs to ring the bell, announcing church for children was beginning in five minutes. Downstairs your teachers were lighting the candles since the church used only natural light with open cut-outs in the walls for windows with some shutters. The candles tipped over and caught fire of some cloth draped over a chair and the fire quickly spread, catching the wooden walls on fire, trapping you upstairs. You felt the boards shift beneath you and seconds before it collapsed, a young boy called out "Here! Down here! Jump I'll catch 'ya!" And he did just that. You land square in his arms and he checked if he hurt you before dragging you to his family home so his mother, Levicy, could check you for any signs of injury.
After that moment, every day Cap would walk you to and from school or anywhere you needed to go. His family adored you, always viewing you as a perfect girl, well-mannered, and a perfect future housewife for Cap. You had been attached at the hip since day one, either he showed up to your house and asked to play or you showed up to their house to hang out. His family was huge, it consisted of his Ma "Levicy," His Pa "Devil Anse," Johnse, Robert, Nancy, Belle, Eliot, Mary Jane, Betty, Elias, Troy, Joseph, Rose Lee, Willis, and Tennis. That's 16 people in one house, although the house was huge, it was impossible for it to ever be peaceful.
Now, you were 16 and 19 (Remember, typical age gap in the 1800s) and you still loved being around each other. You were his favorite person and he was yours. Today was just another normal day with him.
