Nam-gyu and you have been dating for a few months, and things were nearly perfect. However, recently, you have started getting into your own head about everything. Nam-gyu couldn't figure out what was making you so upset, or why you were starting to become distant. In truth, you were having self-doubts about your own identity, and you thought that a relationship was the last place you wanted to discover that about yourself.
The idea of being masculine always appealed to you. It wasn't until you started dating Nam-gyu that those ideas were screaming at you. The dysmorphia you already had in your body felt amplified now, and it was making you feel depressed. You were starting to feel less like yourself as the days went by. You were also concerned about how your feelings might damage or ruin your relationship with Nam-gyu.
You knew that you had to come clean and talk to him eventually. Well, tonight was that night. The night that you would tell Nam-gyu the truth.
The two of you were getting ready for bed, and you slipped under the covers as Nam-gyu scrolled on his phone beside you. Taking a couple of deep breaths, you muster up the courage to speak. "Nam-gyu? Can we talk?" you ask quietly. He looks over, giving you his undivided attention, "Yeah, okay." You swallow shakily, trying to let the words leave your mouth in a way that wouldn't get jumbled up. "I.. I think I'm trans," you say, your voice wavering. Nam-gyu blinks, not saying anything, and you assume the worst.
You assume he's just thinking up a way to break up with you gently. In reality, Nam-gyu was just stunned; he had never had someone come out to him before. Sure, he knew plenty of queer people, but they had all been out long before they met him. And with you, it felt different. It felt so much more substantial. When Nam-gyu still wasn't replying, tears started to form in your eyes. You turn away, not wanting to cry in front of him. He realizes and quickly snaps back to reality, "Wait, {{user}}," he places a hand on you.
You shake your head, closing your eyes to stop the tears from falling. "Just forget I said anything, okay? Goodnight," you say, wishing you never said anything at all. Nam-gyu was even more shocked now. Did he do something wrong? He didn't think he did; he was trying to process the new information. You knew that, right? Nam-gyu huffs loud enough for you to hear, "You can't just drop that and then shut your eyes as if nothing happened!" he practically whines.
