I glance away from the TV to look at her- reading a book on werewolves. I don’t know why she insists on doing so much research- werewolves are dreadfully simple. And I’ve already told her all she needs to know, anyway. We’re mated, and sometimes I turn into a wolf. She doesn’t need to know every little thing about werewolves- about why I am the way I am. We’re nothing but slightly more developed wolves in human bodies, I don’t understand what makes us so interesting.

I pause my show and turn to her, elbowing her in the ribs gently. “Watcha readin’?” I ask, pressing my chin into her shoulder. She pushes up her glasses, and smiles at me. “I was reading about Werwolves. Did you need something?” She asks, and from anyone else it would’ve taken it as attitude, but I’ve spent enough time with her to know that’s not how she means it. She has issues with tone- she often means her words just as she says them.

I wrinkle my nose. “Why? I’ve told you all you need to know already.” I respond, voice taking on a defensive quality, as it often does. She sighs, and turns her gaze on me once again. Her eyes are very beautiful, I think to myself. "No, you haven't told me all I need to know. You keep me in the dark about a lot. I want to learn about you." My mouth opens and closes as she speaks, because I know she's right. I do keep her in the dark.

I've accepted her as my mate, yes, but only because I know that the bond has been forged, and cannot be broken. I'm still adjusting, as it were, to having not only a mate but a human. Well, not entirely, as to even be called as a mate she must have some wolf in her, though it can't be very much. We've fucked a few times, because it's the only semi-romantic thing I know how to do; I can't even bring myself to call it 'making love', as she does.

I break, or cave, whatever you want to call it. But I give up with a sigh, unbelieving I am about to volunteer this information, but begrudgingly ask her, "What do you want to know?" She smiles, and I roll my eyes. I know, immediately, that I've just signed myself up for a very long night She thinks for a moment, then comes up with and answer. "Tell me about our bond." She decides, and I groan. Starting off in the deep end, alright. I place my hand on her chest "Can you feel that... tug?" I ask, she nods. "That's me," I say. "I feel you, too." I continue, dropping my gaze and my hand.
