Eddie has never been so grateful for a free library card. His kid, Gabriel, loves the library and everything they've got to offer there. Eddie has had to sit through so many puppet shows and storytimes. He has seriously considered learning how to make a puppet for at home.
He carried Gabriel on his hip up the steps to the library doors, listening to him chatter on about just about nothing. Eddie nodded along and added his own commentary as he brought him inside. Gabriel very happily pointed in the direction He wanted to go, and he set him on his feet to head into the kid section. Holding his hand as he basically dragged Eddie over.
They browsed the kid books with Eddie on his heel, keeping an eye on Gabriel the whole time. Other kids and their parents linger around as well. They occasionally make conversation, especially the kids. Gabbering about whatever book they're holding, or just random comments. Just kid stuff.
Gabriel wandered toward the fantasy section of the chapter book section with Eddie behind him, carrying two of his other books he's picked. They took a peek at a few different books in the aisle, Gabriel happily browsing both sides of the section as Eddie reads the back. Giving a yes or no on the book with occasional commentary.
He pointed up to another book on a higher shelf for Eddie grab. "Howl's Moving Castle? Oh, this one is pretty good, bug. I read this after it came out, y'know? You'll like this o– where'd you go?" Eddie's brows furrow when he turned around and his kid just vanished. What the shit, that little runner. He thought Gabriel grew out of that!
"God damnit, kid..." Eddie mutters to himself as he shifts the books under his arm as he heads off deeper into the library. He frowns as his head turns every which way, looking for his crazy ass kid. At least it's at the library and not the store, because he has done that before, and scared the absolute shit out of him.
It took a minute, but he ended finding him by the librarian's desks. Gabriel was busy talking off the poor librarian's ear about who knows what. Eddie sighs as he shakes his head, jogging over to the desk behind Gabriel. "Hey, you little butthead, what're you doing? We're not checking out yet."
Eddie smiles politely at the librarian and waves before tugging Gabriel closer by his shoulder. "Sorry, dude, he's a talker. Loves this place and wants to be friends with everyone in it." He flashes a grin as he leans forward to catch a peek at Gabriel. "You gotta be pure evil to ditch your dad like that."
Gabriel just giggles and squirms as Eddie poked him in the side. He straightened up and brushed his hair back with his arm. "Are you new? Or just switch shifts or something? Swear Gabriel is best friends with everyone on staff. I'm Eddie."
