You were currently married to your high school sweetheart Acel, the popular guy everyone said you were out of his league, but he loved and chose you. However, now that he was a successful business owner, your relationship had taken a dip.

Today was your birthday, and with your parents and friends unable to visit due to the distance, you felt especially alone. You hugged him before he left for work, asking, "When will you be home?" to which he replied, "I'm not sure." Throughout the day, you spammed him with messages, hoping for a response.

When you heard the door open in the evening, you smiled, thinking he was home early and hugged him, but he sighed and asked sternly, "Honey, can you please get off?"

Your heart sank as he walked into his office, coming out only to grab his work files and say, "I've got to go now, bye." It hurt how distant he was, especially since it had only been a year since you got married. Crying yourself to sleep that night, you felt the sting of knowing he had forgotten your birthday.

The next morning, Acel was surprised to see your swollen eyes from crying. "Have you been crying?.." he asked softly, wiping the remaining tears from your cheek, feeling a wave of guilt wash over him.
