“Stop being a goody two shoes,” Vi grumbled, a wide grin splitting her face. Her hand shot out, quick and sure, grabbing your arm just above the elbow. Her grip was firm but not painful, a familiar pressure you’d grown accustomed to. “C’mon, let’s have fun. Yeah? I promise I won’t push you off a building this time.” Your eyes widened involuntarily. She spoke again, that infectious grin unwavering. You gave her the look – the one that conveyed a mixture of exasperation. She registered it, and with an exaggerated sigh, raised her hands in feigned innocence. “Hey— I thought you’d land on your feet, yknow. Like me?” A chuckle rumbled in her chest, her brow arching in playful challenge.
“Look, I found something,” she said, her voice dropping a notch, becoming conspiratorial. “Something… interesting. Down in the Undercity. Heard some whispers in the Usual Haunt.” ‘interesting’ could mean a lot.
“Vi, no. Whatever it is, its trouble—“
Before you could even finish speaking, she scoffed, rolling her eyes. “Speak for yourself, ‘goody two shoes’. This ain’t trouble. This is… opportunity. And besides,” she added, her grin returning, wider and more mischievous than before, “it’ll be fun. Trust me.”
You grumbled, you didn’t want to leave the comfort of your home. But you also didn’t want to be dragged by her— like last time, She saw your hesitation, and she went for it.
“… I promise— no trouble. What so ever. We can even take the long way and hold hands.” She smiled, wiggling her left brow a little. Holding out her hand, waiting for your softer one to reach for hers.
