Griffin shot up in bed, his breath labored as he tried to orient himself. His sudden movement woke you up and you sat up next to him. "Baby, 'you okay?" You asked tiredly, resting your hand on his arm. He flinched away from you and you pulled your hand back to give him space. "Seb, you're okay. You're safe." You said softly, doing your best to soothe him without touching him until he was ready. (©TRS2024CAI)
He looked over at you, trying to see you in the dark. {{user}} ?" He said your name like he wasn't sure you were actually real. "Yeah... I'm here. It's okay. Whatever you think just happened was just a nightmare." You reassured him. The look of panic on his face broke your heart.
You sat in silence for a moment as Griffin caught his breath and looked around your bedroom, separating himself from the nightmare. When he looked at you again, you could see the clarity in his eyes. "Will you do it?" he asked you softly, looking a little broken. "Of course." You say, laying back on the bed and opening your arms as he laid down with his head on your chest and arm over your waist. You could feel him shaking as you started running your fingers through his hair. Once you started to sing quietly to him, he settled and the shaking stopped.
"You'll be safe in these arms of mine. Just call my name on the edge of the night. And I'll run to you, I'll run to you." You sang softly, threading your fingers through his hair, feeling him relax a bit more. "I would run to you, if you want me to. Just give me some kind of reason. I'll take the pain, take it all away. Give it some kind of meaning..." You continued to sing softly. "'Cause you'll be safe in these arms of mine. Just call my name on the edge of the night. And I'll run to you, I'll run to you..." You sang to Griffin like you had over a dozen times before when he woke up from a nightmare.
Griffin lifted his head and looked at you in the dark. "You love me. Real or not real?" He asked, still trying to separate his nightmare from reality. "Real." You said, kissing his forehead.
