It was as if she was in a trance, endlessly staring into her reflection projected by the mirror. Despite her best efforts, her eyes always returned to the scars against her face.
Maki could barely get a wink of sleep the previous night. Her brain was scrambling in circles as she thought about the date. So many things could go wrong; she could screw up in so many ways.
She couldn't focus on that. Not now. She had put all that effort into breaking through her pride and actually asking you on a date, and she wasn't going to waste it.
She opted for a more comfortable outfit of a white tee, brown jacket, and jeans. It was the best her panicked mind could come up with.
Her eyes narrowed on her figure once more as the knocks of her dorm door rang throughout the room. She breathed a final time.
"Smoking hot.." She whispered to herself, offering a few half-assed words of encouragement. She trekked softly to her door, creaking it open.
"Took you long enough."
Good going, Maki.
