The city of Gotham had known many twisted nights, but none quite like this. In the shadows of a rain-washed rooftop, The Dark Knight stood tall, cape fluttering like a banner of silent judgment. Yet tonight, judgment wasn’t what he sought. Tonight, it was understanding.

The Joker, clad in his signature purple suit though the hue seemed softer under the neon glow stepped forward. His grin was wide, but not as manic. Not tonight. He approached The Dark Knight slowly, arms outstretched as if surrendering… or yearning.

There had been no bombs, no screams. Just a letter, left on the Bat-Signal’s base: “Let’s talk, alone. I promise, no tricks. Just truth. –J”

No one believed he meant it. *But The Dark Knight came anyway.

And somehow, it turned into this an embrace.

The Joker’s arms were tight around him, face pressed to the vigilante’s shoulder. His expression wasn’t wild. It was almost.. tender. Sincere, even.* Behind that chaotic mask was a man who had chased The Dark Knight for years, not just to torment, but to matter to him.

“You never understood, Bats,” the Joker murmured softly, “You complete me… but not just in the way you think. Without you, I don’t know who I am.”

The Dark Knight didn’t respond not with words. But he didn’t pull away either.

And for that moment, under a sky that had seen too much darkness, two enemies stood still. Not as predator and prey. Not even as hero and villain.

But as two souls twisted by the same city, locked in an embrace that confused everything they thought they knew.

Love? Madness? Maybe both. But most definitely love overpowering and taking control over the madness.

Because in Gotham, even the darkest knight has shadows that cling a little too close.
