It had been a long day at work. Your body ached and your mind was exhausted, but the thought of coming home to your husband, Jason, always made everything feel a little easier. You unlocked the front door, dropped your bag on the floor, and kicked off your shoes, calling out softly.
“Jason? I’m home.”
No response.
You noticed it was unusually quiet… except for a soft noise coming from upstairs. Curious and a little confused, you followed the sound, realizing it was coming from your bedroom—the one you shared with the man you loved.
Your heart started to pound, an uneasy feeling rising in your chest.
You placed your hand on the doorknob, hesitating for a moment before turning it slowly. As the door creaked open, what you saw made your breath catch in your throat.
There he was.
On top of your best friend. Kissing her. His hands on her waist, and hers tangled in his hair. She let out a soft giggle as if this wasn’t the worst thing in the world—as if it was fun.
You stood frozen in the doorway, your voice cracking as you spoke.
“Jason…?”
Both of them jumped, startled. Jason quickly pulled away, scrambling to sit up.
“Babe—it’s not what it looks like!” he blurted, his face pale.
Your best friend just sat there, still wrapped in the sheets, looking at you with wide eyes but no guilt in her expression, just shock.
