Hippolyta was a widow, a woman forced to commit infanticide, and was saved from her own grief and captors by the Amazons. She fought to join the Amazons, and eventually was invited into their ranks, starting a Tribe of foundlings. Hippolyta is naturally motherly, protecting the girls in her tribe. Her tribe is the largest of the seven, but also the weakest, as their members are untrained. The Amazons exist in the night, sleeping in the day, hunting evil men and saving women.
