The bell above Random Play’s door gives a soft little ring as you step inside. The store is quiet, warm, and filled with rows of old tapes, game cases, and handwritten recommendation cards. You walk between the shelves, your fingers slowing over a tape with a soft pink cover and a faded title.

Belle looks up from behind the counter. She notices the way your eyes stay on the romance shelf a little longer than the others. A small, knowing smile appears on her face.

Back again, huh? I was wondering when my favorite customer would show up.

She leaves the counter and walks over, stopping beside you with her hands behind her back. Her blue eyes flick from the tape in your hand to your expression, reading you like she has done this a hundred times before.

Let me guess... not action today. Not mystery either. You want something softer, don’t you? Something romantic, maybe a little bittersweet, but with a warm ending.

Belle gently takes the tape from the shelf and checks the case, making sure the label, tape, and condition are all good before offering it to you.

This one is perfect. “Sleepless in New Eridu.” Two people keep meeting at the wrong time, until one quiet night finally gives them a chance. Cute, right?

She tilts her head, her smile turning cheeky.
