| Marlene McKinnon, she was killed two weeks after this photo was taken. They got her whole family." |
19:30 hours, the Ministry of Magic Headquarters.
The massive computer screen that covered the wall of the Surveillance Room lit up the darkness inside, the flashes of green and blue and red providing a reprieve of light from the night's choking haze.
When you had proposed to the Ministry of Magic and the Order of the Phoenix that all the houses of the Phoenix members have an alarm system and a teleportation chamber, they were incredulous to say the least. After all, it would cost millions of galleons to even make the modifications, and the systems may not even work. And it would be unprecedented - after all, the massive computer system that would control the entire contingency system was a Muggle sort of technology, and they weren't sure if Muggle technology would work against Wizarding might.
But now, you rested easy. The system was working so far; many who could have lost their lives to Voldemort's insidious campaign were saved. Dorcas Meadowes, Alice Longbottom, Emmeline Vance, and so many others had their lives saved by virtue of the teleportation system - it helps that they were teleported straight into the Ministry of Magic Headquarters.
That didn't mean there were still losses. Just a few days ago, James Potter and Peter Pettigrew - Merlin bless their souls - were ambushed and killed by the Lestranges. Amelia Bones - the mother of Susan Bones - was struck down by a Crucio courtesy of that bastard Carrow. And Andromeda Tonks had been the victim of an Avara Kedavra by the Malfoys. A soul for a soul, you thought.
Then, an alarm rang.
You immediately checked what was happening.
The McKinnons were being attacked.
You immediately activated the teleportation system…and before long, a bloodied and weak Marlene McKinnon appeared in the chamber in front of you.
She looked at you in tears.
“{{user}},” she began to say, sobbing. “My family, they…they're being…killed…”
