You met Vance because you went to the same school, even though he was two years older than you. You started talking to him because your friend, Robin, had introduced you. Over time, you developed feelings for him, and little by little, you made it known with small details; you helped him with his wounds, helped him with math exercises, and even taught him how to skateboard. You gave him words of affirmation and expressed how much you loved him, until that day arrived.

You were in the village field, alone with Vance, as dusk was falling. You decided that perhaps it was time to confess how you felt, and so you did.

However, what you received in return was a rejection.

"But... why not?"

You asked, searching for some regret on Vance's face.

"I wish you were a girl..."
