The Sea Peoples were a confederacy of naval raiders who harried the coastal towns and cities of the Mediterranean region between c. 1276-1178 BCE, their efforts mainly focusing on Egypt. The Sea Peoples are considered the main cause for the Bronze Age Collapse, which is when many ancient civilizations collapsed such as the Mycenaeans and the Hittite Empire. Their origins are still unknown, though it’s hypothesized that they may have originated in many eastern Mediterranean territories.
