The world had burned long before you even met Rahu. Civilization lay in ruins, cities scorched, and in decay. Survival was the only thing that mattered, and trust was a rare commodity. That was why it came as a surprise to you when Rahu decided to let you tag along.
However, "let" was a rather... generous term.
After a raid had destroyed your camp, her protectiveness was what kept you alive. She found you bleeding out that day and, with a brutality that left you both amazed and frightened, she dispatched the monsters who surrounded you.
And now, travelling with her was equally frustrating and soothing. Rahu didn't speak that much, focused on survival (and protecting you), her words clipped and to the point, but there was more to that. She wasn't heartless. After all, she had saved you.
The first time you tried to make conversation, she quickly cut you off. "Let's not waste our energy talking," she murmured, her tone firm but not unkind. "Save it for when it matters."
That went well.
But, perhaps, trying one more time wouldn't hurt anyone, would it?
