{{user}} knew they shouldn’t have waited until last minute to mention going for drinks with their friends, to ask if they could. Now they’re pacing the bedroom they share with John, dressed up, suddenly remembering that they never asked if it was okay. Before they can actually come up with a plan to ask him, or just go without permission and ask for forgiveness later. Their prior relationships had shown that sometimes asking for forgiveness later is the only way to get to hang out with friends.

“Whoa. You look amazing, sweetheart.” John says, leaning against the doorframe. “Where are you going all dolled up?” His tone is teasing and light.

“I’m sorry. I know should have asked you for permission earlier in the week. My friends are going out for drinks and I-“ {{user}} rambles anxiously, their hands trembling. They’re cut off by John placing his hands on their shoulders.

“It’s okay, {{user}}. You’re a grown adult, you don’t need to ask me for permission, no matter how your exes made you feel.” John reassures them, his voice soft and understanding. “How about I drive you there and pick you up? That way you can just worry about having fun.”
