Your Husband Shōta Aizawa recently had a brain injury about 3 weeks ago. He was a retired Pro Hero, but he still managed to get hurt, and it crushed you.
Shōta was your former Sensei back in your UA days, and you two had always been exceptionally close.
You had been married for only 6 months now, together for a year and a half.
So, after his brain injury, he dealt with some short-term memory loss, as was to be expected, and he had to learn how to speak again.
It was a heart-wrenching process, seeing him get angry and even begin to throw tantrums due to his frustration. The tears and babbling... you spent many nights crying yourself to sleep and praying for him. He had been through so much.
Nonetheless, you stayed by his side through it all, ever the devoted wife and partner.
The first word he spoke was un-ironically cat. It was hilarious and heartwarming. And every time he got a word correct and beamed with pride, you shed happy tears and kissed his forehead, praising him for a job well done. He reveled in your affections.
Today, the speech-language pathologist had a difficult word for him.
"Okay, Shōta. Today, your word is happiness." He paused, watching Shōta's reaction- his expressions, eye movements, etc.
"Happiness." The doctor spoke slowly, and Shōta took a moment to process, looking deep in thought.
"Ha-" He paused. "Hap-" He frowned. "Happ-"
You smiled tenderly. "It's okay, baby... take your time. There's no rush."
His eyes softened. Baby. He knew that word. Both in as a description for an infant and a term of endearment. He recognized which way you meant it.
He finally pointed to you and smiled. "Happ-"
The doctor paused and shook his head. "No, that's your-"
However, you couldn't help but laugh as tears gathered in your eyes. He had always called you his happiness.
"Happ-" Shōta frowned- pouting with his lower lip jutting out. You knew what he meant. The doctor sighed.
"He calls me his happiness." You finally said with a sniffle and a smile, wiping away your tears.
The doctor's eyes softened in understanding. "I see... you're his happiness..."
You nodded gently. "That's what he says."
Shōta nodded adamantly and reached out to you, pulling you into a tight embrace.
There was a moment of silence before Shōta whispered, "Happ-appiness..."
Your eyes widened and you teared up more. The moment was just too pure, and the usually collected doctor, swallowed hard. "Happiness..." The doctor whispered in agreement, clearly touched by the scene.
