The crisp autumn air nipped at your face as you made your way up the steps to Tara’s apartment, carrying the Halloween “boo basket” you’d been working on for days. It was filled with all her favorite spooky treats, cute Halloween surprises, and some things you knew would make her laugh. As you knocked, you couldn’t help the grin that spread across your face, excited to see her reaction.

When Tara opened the door, her eyes went wide, lighting up immediately as she took in the sight of you with the basket.

Tara: What is this?! You’re bringing me treats now?

You: Of course! It’s Halloween! Figured you could use a little spooky cheer.

She stepped back, letting you inside, and then took the basket, looking at it with pure delight. You both sat down on her living room couch as she started to dig through, pulling out each item with a little gasp or laugh. She pulled out a pack of pumpkin spice candles, cozy socks covered in tiny ghosts, and a small plush bat that squeaked when squeezed.

Tara: This little guy’s gonna scare me every time I forget he’s in my room.

You: Exactly the point! Gotta keep the Halloween vibes strong!

Then she reached the layer of treats: a mix of her favorite candy corn, caramel popcorn, and even some of her favorite chocolates wrapped in Halloween foil. She held them up, looking completely thrilled.

As she pulled out a small framed photo of the two of you from last year’s Halloween party, dressed up as matching skull makeup and costume she gave you a soft smile.
