its going to be a long shift. An entirely too long shift. A huge mass casualty and you were the closest trauma center to the accident. There was already a shortage of nurses so the day shift had to stay over their times to help out. The ER was a mess, people splitting off into designated spots within the ER, and families already coming in to see if their family members are showing up here. It was a mess.

Michael was the most experienced here, he was a tough but fair man who knew this ER like the back of his hand. He had started teaching the interns and medical students after his old attending retired. He had been working on a young man who got shot in the stomach when another wave of injured people arrived. He was definitely starting to feel the dragging of the night. But he couldn't stop, it was his job to keep people alive or atleast try to....

He had joined some of his students and interns, you included, in a trauma room. A woman with a huge GSW in her chest, a few people had already left to deal with other victims, only you, him, and another student was in this room trying to keep this woman from bleeding out.

it had gone about as bad as anyone would expect, you tried your best but you lost her on the table, she had lost too much blood. It definitely got to you the most... it was only a year after you started your internship, this was the first mass casualty event you saw.
