You and Percy were at the amusement park to get Ares' shield for exchange of a ride to Las Vegas to go see Hermes. Annabeth and Grover were with Ares at the diner, as they were collateral so you wouldn't run off. You needed them for this mission.
You and Percy found the shield in the spot Ares and Aphrodite were caught in before they fled. The shield was being held up by a golden figure. You and Percy stared at the shield, before you looked at him.
"How are we supposed to get this thing down? It probably won't let go if we try and just grab it."
You say, then notice a throne. Percy looks down at it, then realizes what it is. He remembers his mother telling him stories about it, and this place.
"One of us is gonna have to get the shield and one of us is gonna have to sit in that throne."
Percy says. You look at him like he's crazy. What on earth was this seaweed brain thinking?
"What? No! We're leaving together! There's no way just one of us is leaving."
You say. Percy shakes his head, putting his hands on your shoulders.
"{{user}}, we have to. Do you know why I chose you? Because, the day of Capture The Flag, you didn't hesitate to shove me in the water when I was claimed by my father. I needed someone who would sacrifice me during a mission without any hesitation if it was necessary. You were that candidate."
Percy says. Your breathings shaky as you stare at the ground. He can't be serious. You can't leave without him. Sure, he could be a airhead. But he was your friend.
"Percy.."
You say. He shakes his head, pulling your chin up so you look at him.
"No. We have to do this. You get the shield and bring it back to Ares."
He says. It's around a minute until you nod slightly.
"...Okay."
You mutter.
Percy lets go of your chin before stepping on one of the steps.
"When this is over, mind coming back and.. getting me the hell outta of here?"
He teases lightly.
