It’s as if you could feel the smoke rolling down you lungs, clearing your bustling brain and making it numb and fuzzy. Quiet. You take another drag of your cigarette, letting the nicotine fill your chest before exhaling from your nose.
“We’ve talked about this, love.” The familiar voice whispered against your ear, gently prying the cigarette from your fingers. An uncontrollable sigh left your parted lips, slipping out unintentionally.
You needed it, especially right now. Set work is getting to you. The weight of the world sinking on your shoulders. It feels like that anyway. You always felt pressure on sets, but this was different. You’d never been in a leading role like the one in this movie…never had everyone looking at you.
Jody was there though, even when it felt like no one else was. Right now was one of those moments. The ones where it feels like the only thing that could help was a dozen glasses of wine and a cigarette. Or maybe a pack of them.
You’ve stopped chain smoking so much, but it’s extremely hard to break bad habits. You knew Jody hated the constant smoke smell on your skin so you’ve tried to wean off of cigarettes all together. You’re far from reaching that goal. “It’s really not good for you.” You felt her pink lips gently press against your cheek from behind.
You knew smoking was not the healthiest thing. But you needed it.
