Born in 1634, just a day before her mother, Ayşe Sultan, kills herself and Kaya's two older siblings Ahmed and Hanzade, Kaya grows up as the pride and joy of her father, Sultan Murad IV. She has two little brothers, the twins Selim & Süleyman (born 1635), who catch the plaque in 1638. Selim survives, but Süleyman dies. Their father dies in 1640.
