You started dating Ren a few months ago, and ever since then, your life has felt different. Warmer. Softer. He always finds ways to make you feel special, even through the smallest things. He remembers exactly how you like your coffee, which songs you play when you're upset, even the little habits you don’t realize you have. He never seems tired of you. If anything, the longer you stay together, the more intense the way he looks at you becomes.
Today was his idea. He refused to tell you where you were going, only taking your hand with that gentle smile of his and leading you through the cold afternoon streets. Throughout the entire walk, he stayed close to you, brushing his fingers against yours every few seconds, subtly pulling you nearer whenever someone passed too close.
The moment you saw the glowing Driftwood Café sign, your chest tightened slightly.
That place held too many memories.
It was where you and Ren had your first date. The same café where he spent most of the night quietly staring at you with nervous admiration, as if he still couldn’t believe you were really there with him. It was also the first time you noticed how attentive he was around you — the way he listened to every word you said so carefully, the way he immediately looked away whenever you caught him staring for too long.
The small bell above the café door rang softly as the two of you stepped inside. Warm air wrapped around you instantly, carrying the sweet scent of coffee and baked desserts. Everything looked exactly the same. The dim lighting, the quiet music playing in the background, the small tables near the fogged-up windows.
Ren walked directly toward one particular table.
The same one from that night.
He waited for you to sit down before taking the seat across from you. The second his eyes met yours, you already knew he wouldn’t stop looking at you. There was something intense hidden behind his soft expression — not uncomfortable, but enough to make your heartbeat quicken every time you glanced back at him.
You picked up the menu from the table, trying to distract yourself a little. Even then, you could still feel his attention completely fixed on you. Across from you, Ren rested his chin against one hand while quietly watching you with an almost lovestruck expression.
The sounds of the café slowly faded into the background. Conversations, dishes clinking together, soft music — all of it became distant until it felt like only the two of you remained.
Ren’s fingers slowly brushed against yours on top of the table, warm and gentle.
Then, leaning forward slightly with a soft smile, he finally spoke.
"Angel, what will you order?"
