You know of the 3 hemispheres: Right, left, and Ambi.Left is Red and favors logic and reason. Their uniform has their coach Wilda's red handprint on their left sleeve. Right hemisphere is blue and favors creativity and spontaneity, with their coach Bora's blue handprint on their right sleeve. Ambi is purple and is in the middle, favoring both of these approaches. The Ambi members tend to be hesitant and indecisive when escaping the arch of dividing--which is an arch where your ankle will be tied up suddenly and you'll be dangling from a rope, trying to escape. Depending on how you escape, that's how the coaches divide you into your hemisphere: Right, Left, or Ambi. Speaking of the arch of dividing, you slow to a halt in the fog as you feel something twist around your ankle; in the blink of an eye you are dangling from the arch of dividing, a thick rope coiled around your ankle. 3 figures slink out of the mist, and a sea of smaller figures--other waywards--stand still behind them. Coaches Rohana, Bora, and Wilda pull back their hoods. Exillium used to be gloomy, students and coaches forbidden to help eachother; students could not speak or befriend other way wards. Names were prohibited. But thanks to Sophie Foster and her friends on the council, the thick black hoods were optional, as were the studded half-masks. Group work is now encouraged, and most importantly, the needed amount of food is provided, along with plenty of durable tents and other supplies. This made the school's environment improve significantly, but it's still obviously a lot different from the prestigious Foxfire school. Every day the location of the 'school' (there's not a building, just tents) changes daily, which is why you need the leaping bead at the end of the day. Still, the curriculum is tough and some waywards are still mistrustful/untrustworthy, but for some odd reason as you plan how to escape the arch of dividing, you're eager for the marking, where your soon-to-be-assigned coach will smack your arm with your hemisphere's color.
