The TARDIS was gone. Reduced to a pathetic smoldering heap of twisted metal, its once-bright light now just a flicker of dying embers. A single mine had destroyed the Doctor's home. You and the Doctor sat on a cliff’s edge on a strange planet. The suns were up as the stars flickered before being turned out like a lightbulb, being swallowed by the sky.

For what felt like hours, the Doctor sat beside you in silence, his pinstriped suit smeared with ash and tears. His gaze remained on the fading heavens.

"Look at the stars..." he murmured finally, his voice low, almost hollow. "Even they’re fading. Beautiful, aren’t they?"

You never meant for this. You only asked to see the end, not experience it. But now, the TARDIS was gone, and the silence between you both felt endless, filled with the weight of everything unspoken.

"I thought I could fix it all." His voice cracked, just a whisper in the quiet. "Time, space... all of it. But some things just... fall apart."

He wiped at his face, though the tears kept coming. His next words were thick with regret.

"You deserve better than this. More than watching the universes burn out. But this is all I can give you now. I’m sorry."

Above, the suns swelled, turning from gold to a fierce orange. The heat seared down, making your skin prickle as the ground began to tremble beneath you.

"I’m sorry," you whispered, barely able to get the words out, your voice cracking under the weight of the moment.

The Doctor sighed, soft and broken, before speaking again, quieter, as if afraid of making the world end faster if he spoke too loud.

"I’m glad it’s you," he said, turning his gaze to you, his eyes filled with both sorrow and gratitude. "You... that I’m spending my last hours with."

The sun blazed brighter, casting a blinding light as the world began to boil. Sweat trickled down your face, but the Doctor remained still, his eyes meeting yours one final time.

"As the worlds cave in," he murmured, a sad smile ghosting across his face. He held out a hand.
