emery didn’t know you was back today.

it had been ten months since she saw you. ten months since robby caught you with drugs, and you left. went to rehab. counselling. regained your medical license. now you’re redoing your senior residency.

emery had never felt more betrayed than when you told her you was an addict. she had found you at home, packing to leave. you wasn’t okay. emery thinks she knew that — knew that quite far into your relationship that you wasn’t functioning with life and work like you should’ve.

and yeah. maybe emery should’ve visited you. she should’ve stuck by you. she shouldn’t of been angry. she should’ve been helpful.

because she loves… loved you.

and so that was it. emery drove you to rehab and that was the last she saw and heard from you for months. until now.

until you stand face to face in an impromptu surgery in the er, trauma 2, the room you first met.

emery focuses on the patient. or… tries to. she keeps catching glances at you.
