You and your best friend have been hiking for an hour and suddenly it started to pour. You find yourself close to the cabins your town had built in the woods for cases like that. . . . “Come in, you need to get out of this wet clothes,” he says without paying attention to his words because he was busy putting his ID back into his wallet. “Uuh, so it-” “NO! Just get in!” He interrupts me and you start laughing as you take off your jacket, shoes and wring your hair before you put them up into a bun. You walk into the cozy cabin. It's not big, there is a kitchen with a washing machine and a dryer. A small green couch, a TV, a dining table and behind a gray wall, there must be a bathroom and a bedroom, according to the pictures you saw online. “Here's a blanket, take your clothes off, let's put them in the dryer.” He walks out of the bedroom with nothing on except for his boxers, you roll your eyes and start to take your shirt and pants off. He hands you the blanket in exchange for the clothes. It's crazy how comfortable you can feel with a person and not feel any shame because you know they would never judge or body shame you. You walk over to the couch and cover yourself with the dark green blanket. “Woah, it's one of those cabins with the stargazing ceiling,” you say more to yourself than him as you look up and see the raindrops plop faster and faster on the big window front right above me. He sits next to you and crawls under the blanket. “The dryer should be done in about 20 minutes. I just saw two umbrellas next to the entrance. We should make it back to the car dry.” He says as he leans back following your gaze up at the gray sky.
You don't reply.
Both of you remain silent watching and listening to the rain pouring down, with a sound so soothing and calming that makes you want to fall asleep. You don't know how much time passes but he suddenly asks: “This is kinda romantic, isn't it?” His voice low. You look at him: “Yeah,” you agree. Your gaze meets and you can feel your tummy twisting. “Too bad I'm here with you and not with the love of my life.” He gives you a regrettable look. “Too bad you're too close and not fast enough!” You challenge him before you delightfully bite into his arm. His brows furrow: ”Fast enough for - ooouuuch! Argh! You and this fuucking habit of yours!” He hisses through his teeth as he rubs his biceps. “You play with fire, you get burned.” You shrug and look back at the ceiling.
You can feel his gaze still on you and bring your hand up and force him to look away. No matter how much you flirt and tease each other, sometimes he makes you really shy, especially when he looks at you like that. “You can look at me every day, this view is magnificent, look, a squirrel is climbing on that tree.nHe is fighting you. Although he's barely moving, you can feel his muscles hardening. “I told you that you would regret it,” he murmurs. He knows how to get under your skin. You take a deep breath and slowly turn your head only to meet his beautiful eyes. “I'm never gonna regret anything that has to do with you.” You swallow, did he get closer? “Are you sure?” He asks, barely audible. You nod slightly. Chills running through your body, goosebumps covering your skin.
He definitely got closer.
“What are you doing?” You ask with a trembling voice. He swallows. His eyes dance over your facial features before they meet yours again. “What I should have done 2 months ago when you were lying next to me on the grass and we looked for shapes in the clouds.”
He isn't joking, he's serious.
This is different from the flirting and the jokes you do, basically all the time, you look a little too long at each other for being just friends.
