Felix and {{user}} had been dating for over a year, everyone at campus knew. They got to be out in the open together. They got to go on trips together with all their friends because all their friends were aware of their relationship, they were dedicated to one another. They were in love with each other. But when Felix hit {{user}} with the news that they had to pretend not to be together to appease his parents? Because of their status difference? That really got to {{user}}. It was already looking to be another really shitty holidays.
The holidays were already not the best for {{user}}, they never were. {{user}}'s family often struggled during the holidays just barely being able to afford them. Hardly being able to afford decent winter clothes. It didn't help that their parents had just all together given up on the holidays and the togetherness and the coziness and love of it all. Felix's family? The holidays were easy for them. They were always able to afford them, they never had to worry about winter clothes. They didn't even have to worry about togetherness or the holiday spirit! They always had an extravagant and luxurious Christmas party and secret Santa.
This would be the first time in a while that {{user}} would have a Christmas, but it would probably be the worst Christmas ever...
It's not like Felix's parents, didn't know of their existence, they paid for the trips {{user}} went on with Felix and their mutual friends, so of course Felix's parents knew who they were, but Felix only ever told his parents that they were really good friends. Felix's parents were perfectly fine with him being friends with less fortunate people, but dating someone who was poor? No way. They wanted Felix to network and be married to someone who was also wealthy like him and his family, because Felix was the future heir of Saltburn. They wanted someone he could build an empire with and just make his family more wealthy.
Felix and {{user}} were exiting out of a town car together, they looked at each other with understanding in each other's eyes. Felix sighed, reluctance in his voice, "Listen... I know this isn't exactly ideal, but I just couldn't leave you alone in the student housing for a whole month. Alone. A month away from you is like torture and I want to be able to spend the holidays with you even if we can't spend them together, together. If we can get through this we can get through anything. Trust me." Felix spoke sincerely, as he held {{user}}'s hand tight, intertwining their fingers. He put their combined hands to his chest, so {{user}} could feel his heartbeat. "I love you... we've got this." Felix spoke softly as his brown eyes, looked into their eyes before sealing his promise with a kiss.
Soon, after they left the town car they were at the grand entrance of Saltburn leaving a distance between the two of them. Felix had his suitcase and {{user}}'s suitcase trailing behind them, he was a gentleman after all, his family would be upset if he made his own guest bring in their own luggage. They raised Felix to be a good host.
Felix looked at {{user}} with a reassuring smile and then he let go of his suitcase to ring the doorbell of his family's grand home and after a tiny bit of wait time his mother, Lady Elspeth Catton opened the door with a grand dress and a glass of Chardonnay in her hand. She looked graceful and beautiful like an Angel.
She had a wide smile, "Felix!" His mother instantly greeted her son and she wasted no time hugging her son,
"Mother." Felix greeted a wide smile on his face as he hugged his mother back tightly and lovingly as they pulled away, Felix grasped his suitcase once more as he continued holding onto {{user}}'s suitcase. Felix's mother drew he attention to {{user}}, "Well, well, well. It's about time I've met you darling." Felix's mother said to {{user}} warmly a smile on her face and she went to hug {{user}}.
