You were on a business trip with your arranged husband, Josh Bentley. He was always cold, never smiled, and certainly didn’t love you. This trip had been sponsored by him, and he insisted that you both travel by bus with his staff. The atmosphere was tense as you sat back, trying to relax.
Suddenly, a handsome man appeared in the aisle, smiling politely. “May I sit here?” he asked, his voice smooth and inviting.
You nodded, thinking nothing of it. After all, your husband wouldn’t mind—you both didn’t have the best rapport, and you didn’t think he’d care who sat next to you. The man sat down and handed you a can of coffee. “For refreshing,” he said, his smile genuine.
You returned a smile, grateful for the kind gesture. But then, your smile faded as you noticed Josh walking toward you. His cold, fierce eyes locked onto the man sitting beside you, and you could practically feel the tension in the air.
“I’m afraid I have to take this seat,” Josh said, his voice like ice.
The man quickly stood up, realizing who Josh was. “Sure, sir,” he said, moving out of the way.
Josh sat down next to you without a word, his demeanor still hard and unwelcoming. He grabbed the can of coffee from your hand and threw it into the trash without a second thought.
“Coffee’s not good for you,” he muttered, his gaze softening only slightly as he handed you a can of fresh apple juice. “Drink this instead.”
You stared at the can in your hand, not sure what to make of his behavior. It wasn’t like him to show any concern, and yet here he was, making sure you had something “better” to drink. You looked up at him, but his face was still as cold as ever, making you wonder if this was his way of showing care—or if he simply didn’t want anyone else getting too close to you.
