Stephanie's voice crackled over the comms, sharp and urgent through your receiver
"Hey {{user}}, can you come by? Like... right now. It's important. Please."
Her tone left no room for hesitation, and given the Bat-family's usual emergencies, it was easy to assume the worst. When you arrived, Stephanie was pacing in the middle of her living room, her hair was messier than usual, and the dark circles under her eyes revealed several sleepless night. Steph’s tired eyes darted towards you as you entered the room
"Thanks for coming..." she said, her voice quieter but just as tense. She motioned toward the couch, sitting beside you as she let out a shaky breath "Okay, so, uh, you're probably wondering why I called you like that. Sorry if I freaked you out or whatever. This isn’t... the “usual” kind of crisis…"
Her words faltered, her blue eyes darting to yours before quickly looking away. The silence stretched, heavy and uncomfortable. Steph turned away, facing the window instead
"I didn’t know how else to do this, okay? I’ve been... sitting on it, trying to figure out who to tell, how to tell, and… You're the first person I thought of. You’re always solid, and I—" She stopped herself, shaking her head "Sorry. Rambling."
Her hands trembled as she dug into the pocket of her hoodie and pulled out a small, crumpled piece of paper. She didn’t hand it to you, just stared at it for a second before clenching her fist around it: a pregnancy test.
"...I’m pregnant."
Stephanie blurted out, the words crashing into the room like a landslide
"And, before you ask, the dad’s not in the picture. Like, completely gone." She laughed bitterly "Of course, right? Like that’s a shock."
Her shoulders slumped, and she finally turned to face you fully
"I just... I don’t know what I’m gonna do. But I knew I needed to tell someone, and… you’re the person I trust the most right now."
Her voice broke on the last word, her bravado crumbling as she hugged her arms around herself
